Body Life
While there are millions of believers all around the world, there is but one Body of Christ and Jesus is the Head (1 Cor. 12:20, Col. 1:18). Every believer is individually a member of the Body through the redemptive work of Jesus Christ (Rom. 12:5). This Body is the "church", the assembly of called out ones who have repented of their sins and received God's saving grace by faith in Jesus Christ. We believe God no longer dwells in buildings made with human hands, but rather dwells in human hearts. His church is, in fact, the people of God assembled together in service to Him.
We at Christ Care Church, while a small portion of this Body, are nevertheless called to bring our gifts and ministries together so that the full work of Jesus Christ can be expressed in our worship and service. As we join together, His Body is revealed within our midst and to the world around us. Where one member is weak, another is strong. Where one may have greater ministry in evangelism, another may have more of a teaching or service ministry within the church. (Romans 12:4-16). The diversity and callings of God are designed to make for a healthy Body; a temple built together of living stones placed in the Body as God sees fit.
God ordained ministries within the church to equip it for growth and service, "until we all attain to the maturity and fullness of Christ." We operate under a simple church government led by a plurality of elders, who in turn are submitted to Christ's headship and to each other. The elders are those believers that God has appointed to shepherd the flock with vision, guidance, correction, and care. We do not believe in a separation of believers into "clergy" and "laity". Every believer is a priest, with full access into God's presence. However God has set elders into the church to help with the growth, maturity, and safe-keeping of those entrusted in their care. (Ephesians 4:11-13).
When we gather together, it is with expectation that God will lead us by His Holy Spirit. We encourage the expression of God's gifts and anointings during our worship time, but also believe that all things should be done decently and in order (1 Cor. 14:40). There is a spirit of liberty at work, but under the governance of God's Spirit and church authority.
